FAQs
What is the Dress Code: Mountain Formal?
For gentlemen: Tuxedos are great, but a dark suit and tie is totally fine too (black, navy, or charcoal). Think something sharp, classic, and simple.
For ladies: Cocktail or long dresses in neutral or soft pastel tones (sage, dusty blue, yellow, blush, etc.) will look cute against the mountain backdrop. Black and navy are fine too if you prefer a darker look. We recommend avoiding bold prints or neon colors to help group photos stay cohesive.
Note on shoes: The ceremony will be held outdoors on grass, so we recommend block heels, wedges, or flats. Stilettos could sink into the grass, so yes, you’re right, Christian Louboutin may not be the best idea 😏.
What is the best way to get to Grindelwald?
Most guests will fly into Zurich, then take a train ride to Grindelwald (about 3 hours from Zurich and 4 hours from Geneva). You can check routes and schedules on the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB/CFF) website. Of course renting a car is another option. For more info, check out the TRAVEL page!
Where should I stay?
Check out the LODGING page. If you’d prefer to book your own place, let us know and we’re happy share tips!
Will transportation be provided on the wedding day?
Yes, we’re arranging a shuttle to take all guests from Grindelwald to the ceremony site in Bussalp and back to the dinner location.
What will the weather be like?
Late August in the Alps is usually mild. Highs in the 60–70s °F (15–25 °C), but the weather can change quickly. For the ceremony day, we kindly ask guests to follow the Mountain Formal dress code. For the other days, layers, a light jacket, and sun protection are all good ideas.
Will there be hiking or activities around the wedding?
Heck yes. There are a ton of hiking trails and local experiences to explore if you’re extending your trip. Check out the THINGS TO DO page for ideas. We're also thinking about planning a group hike after the wedding, stay tuned!
Is there cell service / Wi-Fi in the area?
Yes, but signal can be spotty in the mountains. Most hotels and cafes have wifi, but it’s a good idea to download offline maps and any travel documents in advance, especially if you’re planning to hike.
What if I have dietary restrictions or other needs?
Please let us know when you RSVP. We'll do our best to make sure everyone is well taken care of. For any other questions or concerns, feel free to reach out anytime!
